This culinary safari focuses on all the food and wine on offer in the stunning Cape region of South Africa and a sophisticated fine dining experience on board the luxurious blue Train from Cape Town to Pretoria. This is followed by contemporary African cuisine and exceptional close wildlife encounters at an award winning five-star private game reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park.
Cape Malay cuisine is a fusion of traditional South African and Malaysian food with popular dishes including fish, stews, roasts and curries with lots of chilli.
The Cape Winelands is not only known for its world renowned wines but also for its beautiful Cape Dutch architecture.

Cape Town & Kruger Culinary Safari
Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport you will be met and transferred to the hotel. One of the world's most picturesque tourist destinations and most beautiful cities in the world. Cape Town is situated amidst majestic mountains and is surrounded by pristine white beaches. Often called the 'cosmopolitan hub of Africa', it is home to a rich cultural and historical heritage, vibrant restaurants and nightlife and a multitude of activities - from extreme sports to leisurely scenic cruises and world-class shopping.
Check in at the Clarendon Fresnaye for four nights. Rested in the idyllic suburb of Fresnaye, Cape Town, The Clarendon reflects a glamorous ambiance and posh exclusivity bar none. Cradled along the slops of Lions Head, The Clarendon offers exhilarating views of the wrapping indigo ocean along South Africa's most beautiful coast. Here on the shores of the Atlantic, a wonderful place of rich green lawns and sparkling swimming pools, are set in a tranquil paradise against the backdrop of a mass of pink bougainvillea. This cosmopolitan city boutique caters to families, honeymooners and the exclusive traveller who wants to enjoy the best of Cape Town. The décor is infused with traditional fabrics are designed to add the modern touch. The spacious rooms are appropriated with all amenities, as you would expect in a 5 Star hotel. The exquisitely decorated rooms either overlook the lush gardens, towering mountain or immaculate sea views.
After settling in at the hotel you will be transferred to the Mayoga Restaurant situated at the Vineyard Hotel and Spa where you will enjoy a 7 course wine paired Welcome dinner. (Closed on Mondays). Afterwards you will be transferred back to their hotel. (D)
A lovely breakfast will be enjoyed at the hotel, followed by a Cape Malay Cooking Safari. Pick up time will be around 08:30 am from the hotel. Meet your guide at the Bo-Kaap Museum, do a quick orientation tour in the Museum regarding the Cape Malays- their origins, history and immense contribution to the culture and the economy of the Cape. From here take a walking tour of the area, there are nine mosques in the area, including the oldest in SA-in use secretly since 1795, officially from 1806 with the second British Occupation. The homes are built in the Cape Georgian Style, which replaced the early Cape Dutch style of which the Museum is the only survivor. The area is a protected Heritage Site, so the architectural style has to be adhered to. The bright colours of the homes have no Historic, religious or cultural significance. Arrive at the home of a local resident to begin our Cape Malay Hands-on Cooking Experience. Enjoy a refreshing glass of Falooda- flavoured milk- an old custom when welcoming visitors. Learn about Masalas (spices from the East) and how to mix them, make a curry and fill and fold Samoosas- a pastry with a filling of either chicken or Beef Mince, or vegetarian fillings such as mixed vegetables, cheese or potato. After all the hard work in preparing the food, it is time to sit down and heartily enjoy the meal of Samoosas and Chilliebites, Curry and Rooti (flat bread) ending off with dessert of a Koeksiester (sweet doughnut containing cinnamon and fruit peel, deep fried and dipped in sugar and rolled in coconut) and a cup of either Rooibos or Masala Tea.
Afterwards you will go on a relaxing afternoon Cape Town City Tour. Highlights of this tour include the SA Museum, Cape Castle and Table Mountain (Weather permitting). Since the first person laid eyes on Table Mountain, it has exerted its powerful and charismatic pull, enchanting and drawing any and all who fall under its spell. The best views of Cape Town are seen from the top of Table Mountain. The Cableway summit is under 10 minutes and the cable car’s rotating floor ensures that all passengers have an aerial view of the city. Table Mountain is a sandstone plateau rising up above the Cape Flats. The top is approximately 3km wide, and at its highest point, Maclears Beacon, rises to 1085m. Over the centuries it has become one of South Africa's most famous landmarks. The steep cliffs and rocky outcrops of the mountain play home to a number of plants and animals. The mountain is home to approximately 1470 species of plants; more than the entire British Isles! Complimenting this vast array of flora is a stunning range of fauna, some, like the Table Mountain Ghost Frog, being found in no other place in the world.
Afterwards you will be transferred back to the hotel. The evening is at leisure. (B, L)
Enjoy a full day visit to Cape Point. Travel via the 12 Apostles and Chapman’s Peak (dependant on the road being open). Continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve which comes to an end at majestic Cape Point. This evening make your way to Gold Restaurant, a vibrant, eclectic Pan-African experience in the heart of Cape Town, for dinner and a drumming session. (B)(L)
Breakfast will be enjoyed at the hotel. Today you have the full day at leisure to explore the magic and beauty of Cape Town on your own. (B)
Depart for the Cape Winelands and enjoy a Cuisine Walk. Savour traditional Cape food and drinks as your guide leads you through the historic heart of Stellenbosch. Enjoy a tasting of indigenous teas and old-style rusks, wine tastings at a trendy wine bar, traditional snacks from a family run butchery, heritage lunch platter at the oldest hotel in the country, and a variety of Cape desserts. Enjoy dinner at the De Volkskombuis Restaurant in Stellenbosch which specialises in traditional Cape cuisine in authentic Cape Dutch surroundings. (B)(L)(D)
Today enjoy a delightful visit to local wine estates in Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. At Fairview Estate in Paarl, enjoy wine and cheese tasting. Enjoy lunch at Haute Cabriere, a wine farm steeped in history and local lore and a visit to Waterford Estate in Stellenbosch where the wine and chocolate tasting is a unique flavour experience with custom-made chocolates paired with red and dessert wines. Transfer to Cape Town Station where you will board the luxurious Blue Train for your journey into a timeless world of grace, elegance and romance. En-route to Pretoria the train stops at Matjiesfontein where the Victorian buildings and original nineteenth century London lampposts impart to the traveller the uncanny sense of entering a colonial time warp. The Blue Train dining experience is a sophisticated affair. The meals are freshly prepared by executive chefs and carefully selected South African wines complement the gourmet cuisine. (B)(L)(D)
After breakfast and a relaxing morning, the train arrives in Pretoria. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. (B)
Transfer to Johannesburg airport for your flight to Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve where you will be met and transferred to your lodge. Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge is set in the heart of the bushveld overlooking a waterhole and an African plain. The lodge is a luxurious safari escape. (B)(D)
Sabi Sabi epitomises Africa’s magic. With no fences between the reserve and Kruger National Park, big game abounds, moving freely through this unspoiled part of the ancient African continent. The Reserve is blessed with a great biodiversity of habitat and wildlife giving an excellent chance of close encounters with the “Big Five”. Safaris take place each morning and evening in open Land Rovers, allowing you to view the vast interactions of the wild.
